12 Simple Ways to Fight Cravings

An average craving lasts about 20 minutes. Set a timer and try one of these ideas:

  • Remove yourself from any sort of triggering situation if possible.

  • Go outside, take a walk, get some fresh air.

  • Call a supportive friend or family member. 

  • Journal - write about your short and long term goals. Where do you see yourself in 6 months or a year?

  • Move! Go for a run, turn on a pilates video, dance to your favorite song.

  • Clean out a messy drawer.

  • Take a nap or go to bed early (sleep is great for metabolism).

  • Create something with your hands - coloring, painting, beads, knitting, woodwork, pottery.

  • Do something for someone else - play with your kids, help your partner with a chore, do something for a friend to let them know you’re thinking about them. 

  • Change into an outfit or article of clothing that makes you feel confident.

  • Make a cup of tea or drink 8 oz of water.

  • Pamper yourself - take a bath with essential oils, put on a face mask, paint your nails.
